Meet the crew
The adventuring sailors aboard the Akh’lut.
Brooke
Brooke grew up between British Columbia’s southern gulf islands and the big city of Vancouver. At the age of four, she fell in love with horses and began competitive training and natural horsemanship.
After graduation Brooke chased a wild dream and moved east to a landlocked life immersed in horses and rural Rocky Mountain ranch country.
Along with an innate curiosity and an avidity for adventure, her eternally optimistic nature has always inspired her to jump at exciting opportunities, and say YES to adventure; Conlee’s invitation to go sailing, was exactly that.
Her dreams include incorporating her environmental work and love of the wild places into a nomadic lifestyle spent getting better acquainted with the natural world.
Conlee
A born and raised country boy from Alberta with an appetite for adventure, Conlee always had his sights set on travelling the world. At first that meant acquiring work that enabled him to live abroad in several different countries, meanwhile moving to Revelstoke where he played hard in the mountains during his time off.
After years of commuting from Revelstoke to Alberta every few weeks he decided an airplane would fix the problem and set out to get his pilot’s license and a small air craft.
Sometime in between, he got the idea that sailing would be his next grand adventure and began self-study, learning everything he could about sailing—without actually being on a boat.
In 2018 he found the boat he’d been looking for, packed up or gave away everything he owned, sold his house, and shifted gears from a life on land to a completely new life on the water.
Muoi
Muoi is a Princess, adventure dog, and sassy frassy lassy. From the time she was a young pup, she accompanied Conlee in the plane, on skidoos, his motorcycle and always loved running fast downhill behind his mountain bike.
She is a total mountain dog and cliff scaling dare-devil. She loves snow, but also LOVES getting zoomies on soft sand beaches or, more recently, giant sand dunes. She enjoys high places and continually surprises bystanders with her ability to look majestic wherever she goes.
She loves chicken. Live ones, dead ones, freeze-dried, canned…you name it. If you have a chicken problem, she can help you out with that. Other than chicken though, she doesn’t like much. It’s no surprise, her Princess nature, also means she’s picky.
She is 13 years old, but believes age is just a number and there isn’t much that’s going to slow her down.
